Movie Review
Trolls, Dreamworks latest offering, is an adorable, colourful experience for the whole family!
I’m just going to go ahead and let my 2-yr-old start this review for me.”It was pretty and colourful and there was singing and it made me dance.” I couldn’t put it better myself Sweet Pea.
Trolls
After the Bergens invade Troll Village, Poppy, the happiest Troll ever born, and the curmudgeonly Branch set off on a journey to rescue her friends.
From the creators of Shrek comes the most smart, funny, irreverent animated comedy of the year, DreamWorks’ Trolls. This holiday season, enter a colorful, wondrous world populated by hilariously unforgettable characters and discover the story of the overly optimistic Trolls, with a constant song on their lips, and the comically pessimistic Bergens, who are only happy when they have trolls in their stomach. Featuring original music from Justin Timberlake, and soon-to-be classic mash-ups of songs from other popular artists, the film stars the voice talents of Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, Russell Brand, James Corden, Kunal Nayyar, Ron Funches, Icona Pop, Gwen Stefani, and many more. DreamWorks’ TROLLS is a fresh, broad comedy filled with music, heart and hair-raising adventures. In November of 2016, nothing can prepare you for our new Troll world. -IMBd

My Thoughts…
Trolls is 92 minutes of fun and fantasy. Though they sure look different from what I remember as a kid. Nevertheless, I was transported to a world full of colour, weird but magical backdrops, adorable characters, and fantastic music. I dare say this is one of the best movies that I’ve seen in a while. That’s the thing with Dreamworks though, they never disappoint!
Seriously though, let’s talk about Princess Poppy, the peppy, pink troll voiced by Anna Kendrick. Not only does she have an amazing voice (Pitch Perfect), but Poppy embodies all that is Anna. She’s bubbly, quirky and very talented. I can’t think of anyone better suited to voice this character. I’m quite sure that the movie as a whole wouldn’t be half as good if they had cast another actor.
Branch, the grumpy troll who embarks on this incredible journey with Poppy to save their friends, is voiced by Justin Timberlake. In my humble opinion, Timberlake is one of the few singers who has transitioned to film well. He also is a very talented voice actor. I don’t think I need to mention his singing abilities. Kendrick and Timberlake make the perfect pair and their duets are sublime.
Now I knew they starred in the film, so everyone else was a delightful surprise. So many talented people (BIG names) come together to make this film wonderful. The incredible music, comedy, story and striking animation make Trolls a truly magical experience. Like my little one said, it will make you sing along and dance in your seat.
I recommend this movie to EVERYONE! For my family, watching this film together…was my happy place!
Rating… A+

Your 2 year-old has great taste in films, it sounds like. Any film that makes a person dance is tops in my books!
Also, it sounds like it has a great cast. Thanks for putting this on my radar – I know I’ll love it. 🙂

I really need to take my daughter to see this. She has gotten into the Trolls blind bag stuff yet we still haven’t watched the movie.

The movie is pretty great! The music is epic. Anna Hendrick and Timberlake are great but there are some very talented people in it.

Your 2 year old is… amazing LOOL I honestly thought this movie was going to flop. I’m glad to hear that it did much better than expected! I still remember that random troll toy I used to have as a kid. I… really… didn’t… like its presence. 😛

Ha ha I liked mine. It’s funny the pencil toppers now are just their heads…so a little creepy.
Thank you we think she’s pretty amazing too. Those were her exact words upon leaving the theater.
