I literally couldn’t put this one down! I gobbled it up in just a few hours!
And on my phone no less because I own a Kobo not a Kindle. I had a blazing headache in the morning but it was totally worth it. Seriously, I can’t gush enough.
LUCIAN DIVINE (Release Day: January 9, 2017)
“My guardian angel is a drunk.”
Evelyn Casey’s life is at a standstill. She’s in her mid-twenties, struggling with the dating scene in San Francisco. Nothing seems to be working out, and she’s starting to think that she’ll live out her days in her crummy apartment with her overbearing roommate, Brooklyn. It’s absurd, but sometimes Evey longs for a guardian angel to show up and save the day.
And then he does. Seriously. His name is Lucian and he’s a guardian angel, been on the job for two thousand years. His sudden presence in her life is both good—he’s brilliant, witty, and warm—and bad—he’s brilliant, witty, warm, and hot as —-. But as perfect as Lucian seems, he’s got problems of his own. He’s taken up drinking and he’s brazenly inserted himself into Evey’s life, going against the greatest cosmic law ever created.
For Evey, the rules are simple: You are not allowed to hook up with your guardian angel. But sometimes fulfilling your destiny requires a leap of faith, a confrontation with God.
Yes, God as in God.
Loved it, loved it loved it! Lucian Divine truly is a unique story about faith, love and life. It is beautifully written in a fresh contemporary way making it relatable, even though it is a story about supernatural beings.
Evie is a wonderful protagonist. She is sweet and sour, flawed and real. I really liked her right from the beginning and Lucian… Oh Lucian where do I begin? How I wished we all could have Lucians watching over us. Or at least offering to buy us a drink. It is absolutely impossible not to fall in love with him. He will easily be my book boyfriend for months to come. His supernatural beauty is captivating but it will be his humanity that breaks your heart.
The love story between Evie and Lucian will give Romeo and Juliet some stiff competition. Amazingly enough their relationship is a realistic portrayal of a couple forced to endure the usual shitty things that life throws at us. Their unique circumstances are not enough to insulate them from real life and I loved that.
As I said, I could not put this one down. It was sexy, fun, heartbreaking and beautiful. I haven’t cried that much since Me Before You. Honestly I can’t praise Lucian Divine enough. I look forward to rereading it because I know once isn’t enough.
