“Jurassic Park Meets The Walking Dead” Hmm, well they got the Jurassic Park thing right.
As in they raided Jurassic Park of every scene, camera angle, characterisations, the very concept… Well you get the idea. The problem is that when Jurassic Park was released, it was ground-breaking. A really phenomenal film. Rezort? Ummm, it’s okay?
The Rezort (2015)
The ReZort, a safari park, offers paying guests the opportunity to kill as many zombies as they please following an outbreak.

Rating/ Runtime: R- 1 hr 33
So Netflix, you really need a star rating between “I really liked it” and “I didn’t like it” and it should be “Meh, it was okay” because I feel like I was lied to. When I noticed this movie, it had a fantastic rating and it looked fun. My first thought was “Yay, it’s Jurassic Park, but for zombies!”
All week I had been waiting for an opportunity to watch it and when I finally did I was like “Oh, it really is Jurassic Park with zombies” but not in a good way. Instead of being an homage to a great movie it was a reproduction.
It started out really promising. There was an outbreak of a virus…yada yada… that resulted in a war between the infected (read: zombies) and humans. Despite the 2 billion casualties, humanity won and the only remaining zombies were isolated to a tropical island in the middle of nowhere. An enterprising young business woman saw it as an opportunity to profiteer on survivors’ guilt or victims suffering from PTSD and thrill-seekers with too much money.
The cast is English (which I enjoy) and it’s clear the film had a fair-sized budget. Also the locale is breath-taking and perfect to mar with carnage but as I said they took the whole Jurassic Park thing too far.
It wasn’t a complete waste though. The acting is good (mostly unknowns) and there is plenty of action. It was okay. Worth seeing if you are zombie connoisseur like myself. I’m always looking for the next “Shaun of the Dead” or something truly original and I won’t find it unless I take chances. There was also an unexpected twist at the end.
