I’M A ROCK STAR TAG
What is the name of your band, or if you are a solo artist, your stage name (example: Lady Ga Ga, Snoop Dog, Puddles the Clown, etc…)?
Hmm, this is a tough one because it has changed so many times over the years depending on what is going on in my life. Since I’m completely immersed in one of two things, my preschooler and books, I’m going to go with the band name… BOOK FIENDZ or THE MAD HATTERS due to my lifelong obsession with Alice in Wonderland.
What genre or style of music are you known for?
It used to be Punk, Ska, and Rockabilly. Now it’s more… Disney & Dreamworks. Rock on!
When I’m not rocking out to Troll songs, I do enjoy an eclectic mix of indie stuff and if the mood strikes, I will bust out my old CDs.
What instrument do you play or are you the lead singer?
Oh I’m front and centre! I have a decent singing voice and at one time, I used to jam with friends. Now I sing in the car with my daughter. It’s a good thing she’s really adorable, because unfortunately, she’s a little tone-deaf.
If you could be the opening act for any band currently touring who would it be?
Um, Queen with Adam Lambert!!! Yeah I just saw frikin QUEEN last week! Not that they need an opening act but I would love to open for them. Adam is amazing with them but I would prefer the Freddie days.
Who would you name as your musical inspiration? This person can be currently breathing, or not.
This is an unbelievably hard question to answer! There are soooooo many talented, inspiring legends, dead and alive, who I find inspiring. I think I will go with David Bowie! His enormous talent as a singer and song writer has always been inspiring to millions. Labyrinth is also one of my all-time favourite movies. His death was shocking and tragic, and I’m still sad over it.
What special item do you ask for in your dressing room on a tour contract rider?
Champagne and chocolate! Always! Not so I could turn all lushy, but because that’s my favourite indulgence! Okay now I want some!
What item from home do you pack in your suitcase to take on tour?
My Kobo and my daughter… what? She’s so tiny I could totally fit her in a suitcase!
What does your stage attire look like?
Yep, pure Rockabilly pin-up style! Hard to believe I had that hairstyle at one point! I’d rock a prettier frock though, complete with polkadots. I love polkadots!
What backstage nickname have the roadies given you based on your personality?
That’s easy! “Drama Queen”. Apparently, I over-exaggerate everything, and have a tendency to be overly dramatic.
Every successful rock star has a special charity. What’s yours?
I have chronic and often debilitating allergic asthma, so I would donate a ton to the Asthma Society of Canada.
What is the title of your memoir going to be?
“Backstage Shanannigans” Ha! get it?
This was such a fun tag! I love all sorts of music, mainly the stuff that falls under Rock’s huge umbrella, and it plays such a huge role in my life. Always has.
I’m not going to nominate anyone specifically. I invite everybody to do this tag!
