Movie Poster Showdown! #TheNightmareBeforeChristmas #WeeklyRecap #Meme #Movies

“What’s this, what’s this…”

Hey guys! I am super sorry that I skipped last Friday! Just had a lot going on, but this week I’m back with one of my favourite Halloween/ Christmas movies, “The Nightmare Before Christmas”.

I’m sure it doesn’t shock you that this is one of my favs, and I thought it would be fitting to do this one on the first official day of fall. YAYYYY!!! My favourite season! Though, it’s going to be a high of 29 °C and the leaves have barely begun to change colour. I’m sorry Mr. President, what were you saying about climate change? Pffft!

What it should look like this time of year

In Canada, and in Ontario more specifically, we have 4 distinct seasons, but the last couple years have seen the seasons start to smush together. That is terrifying AF! And if that doesn’t scare you, how about the explosion in population of unusually aggressive wasps? Or nearly concurrent hurricanes, earthquakes and tsunamis? So, while some are revelling in our “indian summer”, I’m sad because the underlying cause is tragic.

What it currently looks like

Anyway, I could go on about that all day. My original point it that I love this time of year! The leaves, pumpkins, Halloween… and a hundred other reasons why Fall is the best time of year.

So, what else has happened lately? Wedding plans are well underway and our dreamy, week-long celebration in Cozumel is going to be epic! I’m so touched at how many of our friends and family are willing to travel with us and we are so excited. Especially our daughter, who thinks she’s going to where “Moana lives”. Lol, I’ve tried to tell her Moana is from a different country but all she sees is paradise. Turquoise water, white sand, palm trees and flowers… it all looks magical to her. You know, I’m beginning to see her logic.

I am reading a ton lately. It seems like I always have a book of some kind in my hands. Yesterday, I read an amazing literary horror novel called, Suffer the Children by Craig DiLouie. It’s an incredibly dark read, particularly if you’re a parent, but it reinvents the vampire genre in a totally unique way. SOOOO good, I couldn’t put it down! Fair warning, it is not for the faint of heart.

Come to think of it, I’m very much in a horror phase at the moment. See, instinctually I’m gravitating towards darker stuff because of the season 😉.

We had some great posts on Reads & Reels this week too. Some excellent books and of course, my IT review that I posted late (sorry).

Theresa reviewed an Alice in Wonderland inspired horror anthology that looks spectacular, and I even got a listicle posted featuring some upcoming TV shows! High five for a great week!

All in all, a very productive week both on the blog and IRL! But let’s get to the posters!

This Week: The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

Wow! I can’t decide! For me it’s a toss-up between “G” and “O” because “G” is really pretty, and “O” looks like a bad ass tattoo. Ummm, yeah it’s a tie for me.

The Winner: It’s a tie! “G” and “O”

Have a wonderful weekend my friends!

  1. Ooh, I really like each of these. E particularly stands out to me, but they’re all fantastic. Such a great movie. 🙂
Also, Suffer the Children sounds really interesting. I just had to add it to my TBR list, so thanks for the heads up! 😀
Yay for fall and yay for the wedding planning going so well. I’m very happy for you, and that’s so cute about your daughter deciding that that is where Moana lives. Great post! ❤

  2. You’ll be pleased to know it’s wet and miserable in England! Typical autumn weather – actually, it’s typical English weather!! 😉 LOVE this time of year for all the reasons you listed, although the Brits don’t ‘do’ Halloween which is always disappointing. My house is the only one on the street sporting a 6ft spider and cardboard cut out ghouls taped to the windows! 😉 Great post x
