Book Review
In keeping with the spooky theme, I have this creeptastic book to share with you.
Don’t you just love this time of year? Halloween is my favourite holiday! It’s the perfect excuse to read and watch all manner of ghoulish things, and I am doing just that.
Roger’s latest offering (*snigger) is a terror-inducing story with the most horrific twist.
Cleaving Souls (Release Date: October 10, 2017)
There is someone watching Kat. She can feel it when she goes out. She can feel it when she’s sitting at home. She feels it when she’s lying in her bed. Her husband, Alex, wants to blame her anxiety on her pregnancy, but she knows that this is far more serious than that. When Alex takes her on a second honeymoon to get her mind off things, it becomes far more dangerous as well.

My Thoughts…
My goosebumps had goosebumps!
“Cleaving Souls” is pretty intense, start to finish. The first pages are downright gruesome and kick off a fantastic thriller that turns into something you would never suspect.
Kat is a young, happily married woman who is pregnant with her first child. At first, she and her husband Alex figure her extreme fatigue and increasing paranoia is caused by her pregnancy. But soon, her “symptoms” become very disturbing. Concerned, Alex brings Kat to a cabin for some rest and relaxation (a cabin in the WOODS?! Really? Why do people go to isolated cabins in the middle of nowhere?) but it doesn’t take long before Kat’s behaviour becomes even more terrifying. Just when you start to believe this poor woman may very well be insane, the story completely throws you!
This author has a knack for building suspense page by page. Anyone can throw gore on a page and call it horror, but it takes true skill to craft a story that get’s into a reader’s head. Slowly pulling out those deep-rooted fears we all have, and using them to create real terror.
Excellent writing, a whole lot of tension, and a high creep factor make this the perfect book to settle in for a night of scares. I really enjoyed it and I happily recommend it to readers looking for a good Halloween scare, and horror lovers in general.

Halloween is definitely the king of all holidays! So much fun. 😀
Great review. This really sounds awesome. I agree, the best horror is the horror that really gets in your head. 🙂 It’s kind of like jump scares in horror movies. Jump scare movies aren’t “scary”, they’re just good at startling people in the moment. A real horror story/movie that’s truly scary is the one that stays on your mind afterward, that you think about when you’re alone at night or when the lights go out. 😛

Agh, I have about 3 more books until I get to Home To Roost by this author, I can’t sign up for anything more at the moment as my TBR list is toppling.
