Hey kiddies! Happy Friday!

I’m continuing with the horror theme and going with another classic. Wes Craven’s “A Nightmare on Elm Street”

This is one of the first horror movies that I can remember from my childhood and like every other kid from the 80’s, the iconic Freddie Krueger made me want to prop my eyelids open with toothpicks. Anything to stay awake. I wasn’t a latchkey kid so I’m not even sure how I was able to watch this movie in the first place, but where there’s a will there’s a way.

Freddie Krueger is a terrifying monster. Unlike Jason for example, his brand of psychological terror was far more traumatizing than the mindless killing machine. Yes his macabre murders were disgusting and legendary, but they always played on a victim’s worst fears. It was almost impossible to outwit him!

To this day, when I watch the original Nightmare on Elm Street movies I laugh at how cheesy they are but I never laugh at Freddie. He has held up and is just as terrifying as ever. As such he holds a special place of honor on my Halloween edition of this feature.

I know it’s not Halloween yet, (obviously) but this is a Friday feature so I’m sure you wont mind my excitement!

We’ve been getting ready for the big night all week. Putting up scary/ but not too scary decorations, decorating and carving pumpkins, and of course loading up on candy.

You may have noticed that I’ve only been able to post a few times this week, but what I have posted is spooky and I hope my recommendations have been helpful.

The reason I haven’t posted as much as I’d like, is because R&R Book Tours has been flooded with business! I couldn’t be more stoked about it either. This is FANTASTIC! I just now have to adjust my thinking and scheduling to cope with the volume of work.

One blog tour in particular, is TRIPLE BOOKED and I haven’t even sent my official invite out, nor have I advertised it! That would be the tour for Follow the Snowflakes: A Christmas Novella by Angelina Kerner. I’m not kidding guys, there is a cover reveal coming up and I just added a note about the tour and BAM a million participants lol.

R&R Book Tours is booking into the new year and I am so happy! It means the world to me to be able to help indie authors launch or promote their books. 🙂 Sooooo I will need more tour hosts for sure…hint, hint 😉

Anyway, I haven’t had much time for reading but I’ve been watching lots of scary flicks in the evening after everyone has retired. That and catching up on Riverdale and this new show called SEAL Team. It’s pretty good.

A lot of great fan art here… and I love “A” cause that’s the original theater poster, but I think I’m going to go with “L”

It’s creative and has so many key elements like the blanket being red and green striped. Just perfect!

  1. It’s hard to top the original but I think I’m going with G. The “It’s only a dream” thing has the right haunting tone to it for me. Also, this movie FREAKS ME OUT. It gave me violent, thrashing myself awake while screaming nightmares when I first saw it…at thirty-three :). I don’t know why but this one is extra messed up for me, cheese and all.

      1. Kalie was all excited to watch it, telling me how canonical it was and I was like, “Well…it has a young Johnny Depp right? That’s kind of cool.” Then Freddie messed my head up! There was a kid who came to the house last night dressed as Freddie Krueger and I got all jittery. Like you said, he’s a GREAT horror monster/villain!

      3. Oh, I agree completely. Robert Englund just oozes malice and he totally embodies that character. I can’t imagine anyone else ever playing him.

        Also, because of the claws (and maybe their mutual love of muted browns in costumes??), I’ve always wanted to see him and Wolverine battle :). I think that would be so badass!

      5. Did you use “edge” intentionally for the claw pun?!? If so, well done! When Kalie and I wrote out goofy little genre mashup with ‘Nightmare On Elm Street,’ we considered using Wolverine for a foil but ultimately went with Deadpool. Turning Wade Wilson loose and dropping Freddie in those dreams was too much fun to pass up :).

        Now I’m picturing the Wolverin/Freddie match-up with cut, heal, cut, heal, cut, heal, cut, heal…all while they both grunt and look very 80’s in their clothes.

    I'm behind on Riverdale, too. I've been so excited for season 2 and I haven't even gotten to watch any of it yet. lol I'm pretty much in the same boat with Outlander and the few other shows I actually try to watch as well.
    Love the poster options (and of course the movie they're representing!) 😀
    L is definitely a good one, as is A.
