Book Review
I haven’t been this excited about a book in ages!
Not only do I get to organize two lauch events for Misty’s debut, I also made time to read it myself (I may have reorganized my TBR a tad) and it was wonderful! A true 5 star read!
The Shadow Girl (Release Date: December 28, 2017)
Shy, thirteen-year-old Zylia has always known she was different. Most teenagers feel unnoticed and unseen, but for Zylia, it’s something much worse. She’s disappearing from this world and doesn’t know how to stop it. At times, she’s not sure she wants to. Until she stumbles across a family mystery surrounding the disappearance of her great-aunt Angelica years earlier. During her quest to unravel the mystery, Zylia discovers she’s able to cross the boundary and enter the “in between” world. Now, it’s up to Zylia to save herself before she’s trapped “in between” forever.

My Thoughts…
What an extraordinary page-turner!
This unique coming-of-age story is about a young teen named Zylia. Zylia is a very special person. She’s talented, empathetic, sweet and possesses a unique insight into the human condition. The problem is, she doesn’t know this about herself. In fact, if you asked her she would probably come up with a huge list if things she is NOT. As a result, she is fading away more and more every day. The only things keeping her ‘visible’ is her new and only friend, and a mystery involving a relative who simply vanished without a trace.
“I have always known that I am invisible—I had no idea that eventually I would fade away completely.”
The Shadow Girl is beautifully written, evocative, and wholly original. I was so impressed with the author’s depiction of mental illness. Her fantastical approach was refreshing and illuminating. Can you imagine feeling so small, so inconsequential that you find yourself literally disappearing? I get shivers just thinking about it.
I loved everything about this book! The writing, rich characterizations, and Zylia! I adored her. She is wise beyond her years which in addition to so many other things, makes this story appealing to readers of all ages. Honestly, I can’t recommend it enough!
Rating… A+
There is still time to sign up for either the “Ready to Post” book blitz which kicks off Monday, and the blog tour in February if you want to read this amazing story yourself!
