Oh man, I’m late to the party for this one but was it worth the wait?

Justice League (Release Date: November 2017)

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy.

Stars: Ben AffleckGal Gadot, and Jason Momoa

Director: Zack Snyder

Rating/ Runtime: Pg-13/ 2 hrs

My Thoughts…

Okay, so this long-awaited installment picks up after Superman is killed. Bruce Wayne played by the horribly mis-casted Ben Affleck, is feeling guilty and partly responsible. Especially since their bonding “Martha” moment. (Ugh!)

Anyway, the state of the world is fast deteriorating without their shining beacon of hope, so Bruce is compelled to assemble the world’s remaining heroes to do something about it.

Firstly, I have to say Affleck’s performance is marginally better as Batman than in that horrible piece of garbage that I will not even name. Could be because he is Bruce Wayne most of the film, but he’s a bit better (I’m not a hater, he has his strengths, just Batman isn’t one of them). More likely it’s because the rest of the league strengthened his performance.

Gal Gadot as my personal hero, is marvelous! Her intro in the movie is really cool and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Jason Momoa goes a long way in removing the stigma of uncool that surrounds Aquaman, but it is a tad over-blown. We get it, you’re tough and have muscles. My favourite addition however, is Cyborg played by Ray Fisher. His origin story was explained well and his persona, not to mention his look and powers, were some of the better parts in the movie in my opinion.

The action sequences were done well, and the performances were entertaining. I don’t think it deserved the hype it got but it was entertaining enough. The pace of the film was a bit surprising considering the genre, but there is a lot of story to piece together for each character so I understand it. The choice of villain is fantastic! Bonus points for doing something different.

Overall, it was a decent movie but it was a bit lackluster for me. It has its strengths don’t get me wrong, but I don’t feel so bad for not seeing it sooner. If you haven’t seen it yet, don’t worry.  It’s more of  a “renter”

Rating… C+ (Almost a B)

  1. Haha I love the “Ugh!” about the whole Martha thing. My boyfriend and I constantly make fun of that scene. 😛
I went and saw this one when it came out but got sick about halfway through the movie. (Not because of the movie, I just became physically ill and had to step out for like 15 or 20 minutes of it) which drove me nuts because I seriously NEVER get up during a movie. I hate missing even a few minutes, much less an actual chunk of the film.
