” Hold her to you, for she is part of you, as we all are part of each other.”
Hey guys! Wow! It’s been a long time since I’ve done one of these. I’ve decided to do this feature monthly because it was a bit difficult fitting it in every Friday. Plus I’m not that interesting so my weekly recaps were pretty boring lol.
Anyway, The Dark Crystal is being re-released for an epic 2 day event (Feb. 25th and Feb. 28th) in 500 participating theaters, in order to celebrate its 4K restoration! 4k!!! For those of you who don’t know what that means, it means we’ll be watching Jim Henson’s masterpiece in ultra high-resolution (the latest technology). As such, it’s only fitting that I feature it for this month’s edition. It also happens to be one of my favourite childhood movies. Can you tell I’m a proud 80’s kid yet?
On a personal note, I’d like to thank all of you for being patient with me over the last 2 weeks. Some of you may know, that we recently experienced a painful and unexpected loss in our family and all normal routine had been suspended. We’re home now after spending a few weeks away with family, and are slowly getting back into the rhythm of regular life (whatever that means). All I know is that 2017 and even the beginning of this new year has been pretty trying. Frankly, I think we’ve been through enough and I look forward to happier times.
Like our wedding, which is in less than 3 months! Eeek! Mexico here we come! I don’t know what we’re looking forward to more now, getting married or just having a much-needed vacation.
In terms of New Year’s resolutions, I think I have been doing a pretty good job keeping the blog busy all things considered, and I’m very proud of myself. Reads & Reels recently turned 2 this month and I can’t believe my little project has grown so much. Let’s look at some stats shall we?

What a difference right? I can honestly say, that I learned and grew more in the first few months of 2017 than my entire first year. What can I say, in terms of blogging I was a late bloomer lol.
I also never expected to start my own business doing something I absolutely love, but life is funny sometimes. R&R Book Tours is gaining ground all the time and I’m just thrilled! I have the privilege of meeting new authors (and making friends), introducing wonderful books to the world, AND I’m getting paid to do it! I would never have known this was a “thing” if it weren’t for my blog. *Sniff… I’m so thankful!
But I think I’ve blabbed enough though, so let’s get to the posters!
This Month: The Dark Crystal (1982)
Damn, these are all so beautiful! I love “C” but the one that is really grabbing my attention is “K”. I love the classic logo front and centre. “I” is a stunning piece of fan art… I just don’t know!
The Winner: K
Yeah, I think I’m going to have to go with ‘K”. My eyes are drawn to it and though it is simple, I find it striking.
Have a wonderful weekend my friends!

So sorry for your loss. ❤ I really hope things take a turn for the better, and with the wedding and trip to Mexico, how could they not? 😀
Great pick for a movie, as well as the awesome selections for the posters. They're all so good, I honestly don't know which one is my favorite. 🙂

Okay…I’m just going to admit this. I’ve never seen ‘The Dark Crystal.’ I KNOW! I’M SORRY! I have no idea how this one slipped through the cracks, being a child of the 80’s myself. But I’ve never seen this iconic film. HOWEVER, the theatre re-release is intriguing. Maybe it’s finally time to check it out! On that note, I think I have to go with “K” too. I was torn between “B” and “K” but there’s something about “K” that just grabs me. Please don’t shun me too much for never having seen this film :).

Lmao! I forgive you! Clearly you were buried under a rock at the time so I get it. Lol. Not going to lie though, it’s bit like watching a dark Fraggle Rock now but it’s still awesome lol

If I was one the fence, “watching a dark Fraggle Rock” may’ve just put me over the top. Haha, that sounds brilliant. Thank you for your forgiveness too! I must’ve been under a rock (or maybe I was watching that Dolph Lundgren ‘Masters of the Univers’ (ugh) movie too much) but mea culpa, mea culpa.

Ugh Dolph Lundgren! We can’t be friends anymore 😉

Hahaha, no, you misunderstand me. I watched the movie quite a few times (because I loved He-Man)…but I never really liked it. As a kid, yet unable to make thoughtful film critiques, I kept watching it and wondering, “Um, why is this NOTHING like the cartoons I love?” It was like I kept watched it to see if it would magically become like He-Man was supposed to be. But I never really enjoyed it soooooo friendship saves! Yay!

Lol well okay then. I also think that about today’s cartoons. So sad in comparison to what we had but then most of it would be inappropriate today 🤔

Right? It’s so weird how things have changed. I remember reading an article in ‘Time’ years ago about the first season of Sesame Street. It was being released on DVD for the first time and it had to be rated “may not be suitable for young children” because it was too urban and Snuffy was Big Bird’s imaginary friend at first so it could be presumed that he was a drug-induced hallucination and, as such, and endorsement of drug use. FOR REAL. I know times change and all but this is Sesame Street! Everything about the world has made less sense to me since then…

Wow! That’s ridiculous lol! I think society as a whole has gone too far. Soon we won’t have much of an entertainment industry left.

Much needed vacation, I’ll say! Enjoy it when it finally comes time and have a wonderful wedding; something tells me we’ll surely hear a lot more of it as we get closer it too!!! 😀 😀 Again, so sorry for your loss and hope you’ve been doing well!

Just wondering, do you do R&R Book Tours full time now? I have similar thoughts floating around in my head and would love to read your experience! Thanks for sharing

No not full-time though that’s the goal

It takes quite a lot of time, money and people to make it work. I’ve spent the last year cultivating wonderful relationships with fellow bloggers and it’s been with their support I’ve been able to make a go of it. You definitely need to have your name out there in some other capacity first. Also? Signing up for blog tours with other companies has been instrumental for me

Yes I love blog tours! I have taken part in a few so far. Is there a resource somewhere that advertises them on the regular?
LikeLiked by 1 person
No I just stumbled on them reading other people’s blogs. YA Bound Books is a great one, Xpresso, Sage’s Book Tours and mine of course 😉
