This film is a visual stunner and another win for Marvel!

Hey! I’m not so late with this one! At least it’s still playing in theaters! Well some theaters lol.

Black Panther (Release Date: February 2018)

T’Challa, the King of Wakanda, rises to the throne in the isolated, technologically advanced African nation, but his claim is challenged by a vengeful outsider who was a childhood victim of T’Challa’s father’s mistake.

Starring:  Chadwick BosemanMichael B. Jordan,  and Lupita Nyong’o

Director: Ryan Coogler

Rating/ Runtime: PG-13 2hr 14

My Thoughts…

Black Panther follows the typical superhero arc so don’t expect to see anything new there.  What it does do however, is deliver a powerful message. One that is poignant and relevant given the political climate and heightened racism in the United States. It screams that change is long overdue and it needs to happen now.

It’s also stunning. The cinematography, scenery, and costumes are exquisite and the utopic country Wakanda will take your breath away. It is a place so beautiful and harmonious, one can only wish the rest of the world would strive to emulate it.

As if that wasn’t enough, the cast is phenomenal! My favourite is Princess Shuri, played by Letitia Wright. She’s hilarious, smart, and brave. Rumor has it, she’s a new Disney princess, one I’m happy to introduce to my daughter.

Overall, the film was entertaining but it’s those other things that elevate this Marvel movie to another level.

Rating… A
