Movie Review
Step aside haters because I really enjoyed this and I don’t care what you think!
Here we have another Star Wars film for the ‘Canon Police’ and purists to grumble about and poke holes, but you know what? It was good, so this time I just don’t care!
Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (Release Date: May 2018)
During an adventure into the criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his future copilot Chewbacca and encounters Lando Calrissian years before joining the Rebellion.
Starring: Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, and Emilia Clarke
Director: Ron Howard
Rating/ Runtime: PG-13 / 2hr 15
My Thoughts…
I think it’s time as Star Wars fans, for us to accept that there will be many more movies to come. It’s no big secret that this franchise is extremely lucrative which means purists will have to accept that there will be things they don’t like. Changes necessary for film adaptation, new characters, and different actors, just to name a few. With growth comes change, and we can accept it and enjoy or we can complain about it. Either way, it’s not going to stop.
Which brings us to this latest addition to the franchise.
First thing, I adored Alden Ehrenreich as Han! He was charming, funny, incorrigible, basically everything Han is supposed to be, and I think he did a brilliant job. There were times he even sounded like Harrison Ford. If I’m honest, I quite liked all of these actors in the roles of the younger characters we know and love. The new additions were excellent too. Particularly, characters like Qi’ra and L3.
It was really cool to see how Han met Chewy and under what circumstances, not to mention seeing Han as a very young man and how he came to be the roguish smuggler/ pilot we know. Most of us know how Han acquired the Millennium Falcon, but to actually see him pilot it the first time? That was pretty special.
As a whole, the film was packed with action and was a whole lot of fun. I would even say that I liked this one just as much or maybe even more than Rogue One. If you go in with an open mind, and possess the ability to not dissect the story, you will really enjoy it too.
Rating… A
Great review! 😀 It made me more excited to see it. (Haven’t gotten the chance to go watch it yet.) I’m excited to see Donald Glover as a young Lando. 🙂

My oldest son and I went into this movie with heavy skepticism – but after 20 minutes, we were completely charmed by Alden Ehrenreich and thought he did a fantastic job. We also thought Donald Glover sounded exactly like Lando. Just a fun movie!
