Book Review
This is my first book by Louise Jensen, but it will not be my last! Wow!
The Date (Release Date: June 21st, 2018)
Something bad has happened to Alison Taylor.
Her Saturday night started normally. Recently separated from her husband, Ali has been persuaded by her friends to go on a date with a new man. She is ready, she is nervous, she is excited. She is about to take a step into her new future.
By Sunday morning, Ali’s life is unrecognisable. She wakes, and she knows that something is wrong. She is home, she is alone, she is hurt and she has no memory of what happened to her.
Worse still, when she looks in the mirror, Ali doesn’t recognise the face staring back at her. She can’t recognise her friends and family. And she can’t recognise the person who is trying to destroy her…

My Thoughts…
I have seen this author’s books everywhere but until now, I haven’t had a chance to read one of her highly praised thrillers. I have especially wanted to read this one and when I discovered I had loads of Kobo points to redeem (I have been spending a lot on books lately but points don’t count), I snatched it up. Wow, am I ever glad I did!
The Date is not your average psycho thriller. There is a very special element that makes it particularly creepy and just thinking about it make my skin crawl. Imagine being terrorized by someone but not being able to recognize their face every time you saw them? *Shudders… Imagine the vulnerability?
Yes this book was brilliantly written and though intense, very entertaining, but that’s not why I loved it. I loved it because each time I thought I had it figured out, I was proven wrong. Every single time! And the ending was completely unexpected! That kind of twist is very hard to pull off in this genre so I was very impressed.
I will definitely make it a priority to read Jensen’s other books now and I recommend you do the same!

I’ve head really good things about this book! I like the idea of it, very unique (although, it seems a couple of books have come out all at the same time dealing with prosopagnosia… Weirdly enough!) but, I still do want to check this out!

I really liked it. It’s not often you read a thriller and you genuinely cannot guess who the culprit is. I hope you like it ☺

Great to see this review – I recently read The Surrogate and enjoyed it very much. I’m loving this genre and there are so many to choose from. I’ll be looking to load The Date on my Kindle soon! Happy reading!
