Here we have book #3 in the Go Home, Afton series, and oh boy are you in for a ride!

My Thoughts…

Wakefield is smoldering, people…CHILDREN are dying! Afton desperate to protect her friends and her town, makes a deal with the devil. The only problem is, her evil twin doesn’t answer to anyone, not even the devil.

Wow! Afton takes us on a wild ride in this installment. I was so lucky to have the opportunity to read book #3 and #4 one right after the other (Jealous aren’t you?), and I can’t gush enough about these books.

In this one, Ashton’s complicated feelings for the people close to her, have her questioning her motives once again, wondering if she really is a killer. Is she as twisted inside as she believes? Having learned more about Clara’s upbringing, she is also wondering if people are born evil or do circumstances experienced during childhood, make you that way. The whole Nature vs Nurture thing. The only thing she is sure of, is that she has to take Clara down before anyone else gets hurt.

I’d climbed these stairs thousands of times, but today I hesitated. Fear of the unknown, perhaps, unsure what awaited me on the third floor.

It was altogether possible that I’d find nothing up there. Clara had visited my apartment, that much I knew, but that didn’t mean she’d stuck around, nor that she returned attacking Jared.

But somewhere in my gut, somewhere deep inside, I knew she was up there. I could feel her haunting presence. I could sense her malevolence. His too, and a cold premonition washed over me that I’d soon come face-to-face with The Man in Shadows. This time, however, without darkness to conceal him.

Like book #2, See You Soon, Afton (Read Review), this one is non-stop action! It’s thrilling, intense and absolutely gripping. It’s impossible to put down (Go on I dare you!), and I’m just thankful I had the last installment to read immediately after. I also find myself becoming more attached to Afton despite her… um… proclivities? I’m rooting for her. I want her to stop Clara, save the day, and get her man.

Like the first two installments in this series, Nice Try, Afton is an easy 5 stars and I can’t recommend this series enough.
