I swear I really do love YA, but for some reason, I always read the good ones YEARS after everyone else!

There is one huge bonus though, I get to read all the books at one time! Is there anything worse than that horrible wait between installments?

Look! I actually found ‘Dastien’s’ eye!

Im a fan of Aileen Erin, so this book was an amazing find. I just sort of stumbled across it on Kobo and it was FREE! Naturally, I downloaded it straight away and have been enjoying the series ever since (On book #5).

One of the things I love best about this author’s style is that she writes for a mature audience. There’s plenty of swearing, tasteful sexual encounters, and real teenaged scenarios. I’m not crazy about “clean” YA because I find it unrealistic. Not that I expect characters to be cussing like sailors or sleeping with anything with a pulse, but I do want them to feel real to me. Let’s be honest with ourselves, sex, partying, experimenting, and angst, are for most teens, part of growing up, even in a paranormal world.

For me there is nothing worse than unrelatable characters, or characters I can’t at least empathise with. In this book, aside from the insta-love trope that I hate, the characters are typical teens, except for being supernatural of course.

Here we have ‘Tessa’, a newly turned werewolf, thrust into a world she never knew existed. A world where supernatural creatures like vampires and witches exist. And not only, does she have to adjust to her new reality, she also has to deal with a vengeful coven leader and crooked Weres, creatures who are out for blood.

Along with the friends she never imagined she would have, she must prepare for the nightmare to come.

I really liked this book. It’s light and undemanding, a perfect book to lose yourself in. The writing is fresh and relevant, and though the plot has been done before in one form or another, it’s still very entertaining. I’m now on book #5 of the series and I’m still enjoying it.
