Hello my bookish friends!

How’s Summer treating all of you? Are you getting much reading in?

It’s been quite a busy Summer for me so far, so I find myself reading multiple books at a time. Not ideal I know, but with submissions and of course pleasure reading, I’m not sure how else I would fit everything in.

Anyhoo, I thought I’d share some of the books I’m reading/ listening to right now 🙂

42201099We Are All Good People Here by Susan Rebecca White

Eve Whalen, privileged child of an old-money Atlanta family, meets Daniella Gold in the fall of 1962, on their first day at Belmont College. Paired as roommates, the two become fast friends. Daniella, raised in Georgetown by a Jewish father and a Methodist mother, has always felt caught between two worlds. But at Belmont, her bond with Eve allows her to finally experience a sense of belonging. That is, until the girls’ expanding awareness of the South’s systematic injustice forces them to question everything they thought they knew about the world and their places in it.

Eve veers toward radicalism—a choice pragmatic Daniella cannot fathom. After a tragedy, Eve returns to Daniella for help in beginning anew, hoping to shed her past. But the past isn’t so easily buried, as Daniella and Eve discover when their daughters are endangered by secrets meant to stay hidden.

Spanning more than thirty years of American history, from the twilight of Kennedy’s Camelot to the beginning of Bill Clinton’s presidency, We Are All Good People Here is “a captivating…meaningful, resonant story” (Emily Giffin, author of All We Ever Wanted) about two flawed but well-meaning women clinging to a lifelong friendship that is tested by the rushing waters of history and their own good intentions.

This is a pretty meaty book! I’m having a hard time getting into it, and not because I don’t like it, more because it requires a whole lot more brain power than I have at the moment. Lol, light reads are prefereable when you have a 5 year old home for the Summer. I think I may leave this one for a bit and come back to it when I can give it the time it deserves (as long as it’s before publication day in August. Yikes!)

46661161._SY475_Slasher Crasher by David Nora

It was the night HE tried to go home…but got caught in THEIR drama…

It’s Halloween. Nick Roesch, a towering figure of evil and stupidity, escapes from the upstate New York mental hospital he’s been committed to for the past five years. Planning to return to his childhood home, where he brutally murdered his babysitter’s boyfriend, his plans are halted when he crosses paths with an even more terrifying beast—two high school friends with some serious beef. Caught in a battle of loyalty that has been brewing for ten years of their friendship, the two girls, Kathleen Strife and Betsy Coleman, force the feud into a savage showdown, pitting the escaped monster against each other. Who will survive this epic deathmatch, and is it totally wrong to fall in love with the murderous lunatic who just tried to kill your ex-best friend with a machete?

This one is just plain fun! Definitely for horror fans who appreciate slasher movies!

When local girl Misty is found dead in an underground bunker, the town is thrown into a whirlwind of panic and speculation. Times are tough, but the spaced-out farmer community pull together as one, trying to uncover who’s guilty.

Thrown smack in the middle of the chaos is a group of teens: local troublemakers, but with good hearts. Although they’re innocent, the local law enforcers believe otherwise, and the true killer is lurking far too close for comfort.

Will the four be able to uncover the truth before one of them pays the price for Misty’s death?

This one is available for review through R&R Book Tours!

I love Didi’s stuff! I’m about a quarter of the way in, and really enjoying this mature YA murder mystery, Emphasis on the mature, because this has got some scary content!

11300302Alice in Zombieland (The White Rabbit Chronicles) by Gena Showalter – Audio Book

She won’t rest until she’s sent every walking corpse back to its grave. Forever.

If anyone had told Alice Bell that her entire life would change course between one heartbeat and the next, she would have laughed. From blissful to tragic, innocent to ruined? Please. But that’s all it took. One heartbeat. A blink, a breath, a second, and everything she knew and loved was gone.

Her father was right. The monsters are real.

To avenge her family, Ali must learn to fight the undead. To survive, she must learn to trust the baddest of the bad boys, Cole Holland. But Cole has secrets of his own, and if Ali isn’t careful, those secrets might just prove to be more dangerous than the zombies.

I think I have mentioned before that I’m not a huge fan of audio books. Unless the voice talent is very good, they tend to annoy me. Also, they put me to sleep no matter how good the book is lol! That all said, I have wanted to start this series for eons and I thought why not give it a listen in the car on the way to the cottage. Again, big mistake! It’s so good so far but the lull of the car and someone reading a story to me put me out like a light. I think I will read the rest of the series!

How about you guys? What are you reading right now?

  1. Right now I’m reading Carnage in Singapore, then I just got two books in the mail, one which I’m picking up immediately after I’m done with Carnage.

The other may have to wait in between an Animorph book. And I still have the mid-late August book tour read to do too (wink wink).

So my TBR is super full at the moment, but I’m loving it!
