Hey Bookworms! It’s Thursday so you know what that means… Usually me reviewing a book or series that everyone on the planet has already read!
Today, I’m going to tell you about The White Rabbit Chronicles by Gena Showalter. I’m sure you’ve never heard of them *Rolls eyes. I first heard about Alice in Zombieland when it first came out and like everyone else, fell hopelessly in love with the cover! Alas, I did’t purchase it then and time got away from me as it does. This happens often to me, especially when it comes to YA series’, frankly because my TBR doesn’t allow me to make room for YA even though I love it. There is a fab bonus though, I usually get to read the series one book right after the other because they’re all available! Score 1 for me!
Which brings me to the first installment in the series (or trilogy for the purists).
Alice in Zombieland
She won’t rest until she’s sent every walking corpse back to its grave. Forever.
If anyone had told Alice Bell that her entire life would change course between one heartbeat and the next, she would have laughed. From blissful to tragic, innocent to ruined? Please. But that’s all it took. One heartbeat. A blink, a breath, a second, and everything she knew and loved was gone.
Her father was right. The monsters are real.
To avenge her family, Ali must learn to fight the undead. To survive, she must learn to trust the baddest of the bad boys, Cole Holland. But Cole has secrets of his own, and if Ali isn’t careful, those secrets might just prove to be more dangerous than the zombies.

It’s probably worth mentioning, that this is not an Alice in Wonderland retelling with zombies thrown in. I would say the author is a fan and certain things about the story inspired her, like the main character’s name etc… I knew this going in so I wasn’t surprised or disappointed.
What I will say, is that the whole “zombie” element is done in a very unique way! I know what you’re thinking… “How is there anything left that hasn’t been done?”, and I agree BUT the author succeeds in giving us something different. Promise!
My favourite part about this story is the group of people Ali finds herself becoming part of. That and her sexy encounters with Cole (Current Book Boyfriend)! They are these ragtag bunch of warrior kids that you would never want to meet in a dark alley (or maybe you would) and yet they are so fiercely loyal, I wish I was part of it.
Anyway, I don’t want to say much more about book 1, or the rest for that matter, because of spoilers, but I loved it! I loved the whole series! If you are one of the few people left who haven’t read these books, I can’t recommend them enough! Seriously, 5 stars for everybody!
