Book Review
Hey guys! I bet you’ve been wondering where the heck I’ve been! Just super busy with work and adjusting to the new school year etc… but I apologize profusely and promise to try and post more often, starting with this one.
This is my first buddy read, and I’m so happy I got to do it with Candace Robinson, AKA Literary Dust! We both loved the conclusion to this series, and I think Candace will agree with me when I say, this was the best book of all.
Capturing the Devil (Publication Date: September 10, 2019)
In the shocking finale to the bestselling series that began with Stalking Jack the Ripper, Audrey Rose and Thomas are on the hunt for the depraved, elusive killer known as the White City Devil. A deadly game of cat-and-mouse has them fighting to stay one step ahead of the brilliant serial killer—or see their fateful romance cut short by unspeakable tragedy.
Audrey Rose Wadsworth and Thomas Cresswell have landed in America, a bold, brash land unlike the genteel streets of London they knew. But like London, the city of Chicago hides its dark secrets well. When the two attend the spectacular World’s Fair, they find the once-in-a-lifetime event tainted with reports of missing people and unsolved murders.
Determined to help, Audrey Rose and Thomas begin their investigations, only to find themselves facing a serial killer unlike any they’ve heard of before. Identifying him is one thing, but capturing him—and getting dangerously lost in the infamous Murder Hotel he constructed as a terrifying torture device—is another.
Will Audrey Rose and Thomas see their last mystery to the end—together and in love—or will their fortunes finally run out when their most depraved adversary makes one final, devastating kill?

My Thoughts…
I genuinely enjoyed all the books in this series, but not equally. For example, Stalking Jack the Ripper was good, but I had hoped it was going to be AMAZING! I’m sure all the hype affected my feelings. Regardless, I liked it enough to keep going and that’s when things got interesting. I LOVED Hunting Prince Dracula, and once I finished, I realized this was going to be one of those series that just gets better and better, which brings us to the finale!
Capturing the Devil was by far my favourite of all the books! Without giving away spoilers, I loved the direction the story went, what the mystery was this time around, and of course, how the relationship between Cresswell (*Swoon) and Audrey Rose developed.
The author delivered the perfect blend of truth and fiction, while giving readers quite a few unexpected treats! Many times I caught myself reacting out loud while reading, which you can imagine raised a few eyebrows when I was out in public. Didn’t matter though, because I was completely enthralled.
I thought this was the perfect ending to the series, and I am completely satisfied with how everything turned out. It’s really difficult to say more, without ruining it for the five remaining fans out there who haven’t read it yet. Just know it’s going to be great and you will likely enjoy it as much as I did!
Rating… A+
