Contamination Series: For Zombie Purists

Book Review

Zombie - Zombie Apocalypse

Stumbling upon the Contamination Series by T.W. Piperbrook, was like finding a pharmacy full of antibiotics during the apocalypse!

I am new to the whole eReader thing, I held on to my purist beliefs about books for as long as possible but when you read books for business and pleasure, you eventually run out of places to store them, but I digress…The biggest perk of buying digital books for me so far, is the sheer volume of fantastic titles for bargain prices. This of course is where I found Piperbrook’s box-set of zombie goodness.

What it’s about…

Book zero starts off with Officer Dan Lowery locking up one of the small town drunks at the end of his shift before going home to a home cooked meal and his wife and daughter.

Before he gets home he gets a call from a colleague urging him to return to the station because their inmate isn’t just sleeping it off..he’s dead!

What I thought…

I read the first 4 novels like one big book so if I describe it as such that’s why. To me it really was one story with multiple storylines and concurrent timelines.

For a zombie aficionado like myself, this series had all the elements a traditional zombie horror should have.  The evil man-made virus (the Z-Virus in this case) the small town cop turned hero, the grieving widower, brought back to life by desperate circumstances, clueless teens and the most important part…zombies!  In this case the zombies were vicious/ fast-moving/ flesh-eating monsters! The best kind.

The spread of the virus was a surprising twist. Done in a unique but all too believable way that will definitely keep you thinking about things you rather wouldn’t and worried about where your next meal will come from. Scary stuff!

This collection of stories do contain the arc of the storyline however, Piperbrook continued with several new installments beyond this set and I can’t wait to get my hands on them.

As far as zombie books go these were a gore-fest of thrills, suspense and fun! I highly recommend them to my fellow purists. T.W. Piperbrook really does the genre justice.

Rating…B+

  1. You know, it been so long since I’ve read them but I know that there are prequels and novellas from different character perspectives. The author has a Facebook page with more details.

  2. Hello there! This blog post couldn’t be written much better!
Going through this post reminds me of my previous roommate!

He continually kept preaching about this. I am going
to forward this article to him. Fairly certain he’s going to have a good read.
    I appreciate you for sharing!
