Time to give this meme another go. The book and series we’re going to talk about in this week’s “A Series for Sunday” is Frost (book #1) in the Midnight Ice Series.

After hosting an interview with Kaitlyn Davis on Frost’s whirlwind blog tour (Organized by Ya Bound Book Tours), there was a ton of positive feedback and questions about the book. Even the author herself hoped that I would give it a go. It was on my TBR list already but after all of that, I had to bump it up to the top.

Frost-Book #1 of The Midnight Ice Series (Release Date: January 26, 2017)

Even the hottest love can turn a girl cold-blooded…

Life’s tough for a vampire thief on the run–just ask Pandora Scott, she knows. Four years ago she ran away from home after everyone she loved betrayed her. But now her annoyingly grown up (and handsome) ex boyfriend is stalking her, begging her to return. A mysterious vamp with a particularly dangerous (and sexy) stare keeps popping unexpectedly into her life. The extremely powerful head vampire of New York is hunting her down because she may (or may not) have broken into his highly-secure, highly-secretive personal vault. And the fate she’s been trying to outrun? Well, it’s about to catch up. Because even a super-speedy vamp with the ability to disappear can’t escape her own destiny.

A brand new spinoff to Midnight Fire, a bestselling series with over 200,000 copies sold and over 5000 5-star reviews on Goodreads! Fans will enjoy special appearances from Kira, Luke and Tristan while falling in love with the new characters and new adventure of Midnight Ice.

*Please note, you do not need to read the books of Midnight Fire to enjoy Frost (Midnight Ice Book 1). They are two standalone series with character crossover.

Initially I wasn’t impressed (I know, I’m sorry!) but before writing it off as a DNF, I thought “You know what? Give it another try. Maybe it’s just a slow-starter.” So I read it and I’m happy I finished it.

For me it was part slow-start and part cheesy (just a smidge) and then all of a sudden, the tone and energy of the story changed for me and I really started to enjoy it. I can’t say much without spoilers, but an intriguing element was added to the story and I was hooked. I think you’ll know it when you see it.

I am always a little skeptical of a series when the main focus is the romance angle but I do try to keep an open mind. In this case, there is definitely more than just a love story between two supernaturals taking place. So, I’m happy to say that my first impression was WRONG and I am looking forward to the next installment.

The beautiful cover drew me in, and it’s a good thing I stuck with it long enough to appreciate the story beneath.
