Yay, Autumn is upon us! Not, that you can tell where I live. Aside from the leaves changing colour, it’s unnaturally hot (30 degrees celsius) and it has been consistently sunnier than it was all summer long. I’m not going to complain about the sun, but I am ready for cooler temperatures, pumpkins, turkey and Halloween. This is just weird!
That said, there is one thing that hasn’t changed. Our favourite shows are back from hiatus and right in the nick of time too, because I’m running out of Netflix shows to binge. I have my favourites of course, but there are also a bunch of cool new shows premiering this fall too.
Set 400 years in the future, the show follows the adventures of the Orville, a not-so-top-of-the-line exploratory ship in Earth’s interstellar Fleet. Facing cosmic challenges from without and within, this motley crew of space explorers will boldly go where no comedic drama has gone before.
Okay, warning up front, this is not for everyone! The Orville is a campy satire of Star Trek and it was created by Seth MacFarlane. SETH MACFARLANE people! So that should tell you everything you need to know about it lol. I love Seth Macfarlane, and not just because he bares an uncanny resemblance to my fiance (Seriously, they could be twins), but because I think he’s funny. Yes, he goes too far some of the time but I like what I like.
I’m still on the fence about this show. There have been some laughs but it may be too cheesy in the long run for my tastes.
Airs Thursdays on FOX
Follows the story of a young woman who commits horrific acts of violence and rage, and has no idea why. The investigator becomes obsessed with the case, and is determined to dig into her past and figure out “why” this is happening.
Now this show I’m really digging. Technically, this show started at the end of August but it’s only 4 episodes in, and you can easily catch up. Jessica Biel is fabulous in this and I’ve never seen Bill Pullman in this kind of role. It’s been a while since I’ve watched a good murder/ crime show, and I highly recommend it if you aren’t already watching it.
When the devil tires of life in Hell, he materializes in the City of Angels, where he aids the LAPD in rounding up and punishing evildoers in this TV-adaptation of the comic book.
OMG!!! I love this show and I am so excited for the return of season 3! Not only is it a really cool comic book adaptation, it’s also a refreshing change from the CSIs of the world. It’s unique, funny and the characters are fantastic!
Season 3 premieres October 2nd on FOX (Happy Dance)
The Walking Dead
Sheriff Deputy Rick Grimes gets shot in combat and awakens to a zombie apocalypse. He meets a group on the outskirts of Atlanta and soon, becomes their leader. The walkers (what they call zombies) feed on the living, so they try to move to different and safer locations to survive.
For me, Thanksgiving (first weekend of October for Canadians) has become synonymous with the return of Walking Dead. I have been a loyal fan since the beginning and though I feel the first 6 seasons of the series were the best, I still look forward to it every fall.
This year it premieres a little later in October and I have no idea what I’ll do while I eat seconds of pumpkin pie 😦
Also, I still really miss Glenn!
Returns October 22nd on AMC
